How do we ever really know what type of people we are
Can anybody ever really reach their own core
People can be thought of as pieces of paper
Life cuts, colors, splashes, fills, and crumples
But what if life actually just writes in pencil
What if everything you think you are could be erased or drawn over at any moment
What if the ink lines by which we “live” our lives and “know” ourselves are simply evanescent graphite
What do you think...?
That's a REALLY hard question right now. With so much craziness going on in the country. One side is telling the other WHO you should be, HOW you should be. Making you pick sides. This whole idea of "picking sides" is more pervasive than ever. It didn't use to be that way, necessarily. Or maybe it did. It's just more in your face. Not good.
I think we all do have a core being — an essence we’re born with — but as we grow up, it gets lost or obscured as we adapt to a range of situations in our lives: from fitting in with friends to dealing with a major life trauma. I'm totally the product of my parents. I don't know that's necessarily the best thing. But it is what it is. My mom is kind, big-hearted, a little short-tempered, a great skier. My dad is ex-military, has a great big hairy laugh, he loves to go on long walks with my sister and me. He's really proud of us. I'm sort of all these things, I guess. Throw in a little phone addiction, and we're good.
I know who I am. I'm more curious who YOU are? Who put this site together? I'm guessing you're female. Maybe a junior. You grew up in Boston. But you really want to get a job in New York when you graduate? Maybe for a small startup with major upside. You think this can help you get a job. I think it might. Am I close?
I think that even if somebody does feel like things they do don’t have any effect on themselves, they could still absolutely be having an effect on the people around them. In a way that’s even more meaningful.
